Macbook Pro 16 for Architects and Creators - Video + FAQs

Being an architect, I was influenced to stay away from Macbooks. There are compatibility issues, compromise in hardware, specs and not to mention the higher price point. In 2019, Macbook announced the 16" Macbook Pro. I was in search for "the laptop" and for the first time in a long time, I considered this version of the Macbook the best option in the market. In this video, I will talk about the ABCDE of my experience. What is ABCDE? Adjustments, benefits, compromises, delight and evaluation. This is my attempt to share my experience with using a Macbook Pro as an architect and as a content creator. I have been using my Macbook Pro since December 2019 and now, spoiler alert, I love it. This is truly a beast. The best laptop I've ever had hands down.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Since the release of my video, I have gotten questions regarding my Macbook Pro. A lot of them were repeat questions so I thought to write this post and answer the frequently asked questions.

1.) Can Macbooks run Revit?
- Natively, no. You would need to install Windows OS via Bootcamp or Parallels to run Revit. The same is true with other programs that are not compatible with MacOS.

2.) How is your experience using CAD or Sketchup on MBP 16 ?
- Good. It works as it should. There is a difference in the user interface so that is something that I had to get used to.

3.) Would you recommend the Macbook Pro?
- Yes. But I think the answer isn’t as simple as that. Personally, the programs I wanted to use were compatible with the Mac OS. I was also invested in the Apple Ecosystem so that made more sense for me. Think about your programs, use and of course how much you want to spend. Generally, Apple products have good resale value, support, and quality. I was able to sell a 5 year old MBP 15 for $1000. That’s crazy.

Birthday Present Ideas for Architects (2019)

First off, I want to get something out of the way. I LOVE GADGETS! Since I was a little boy, my dad has supported me with my love for electronics. You name it; game consoles, cellphones, cameras, computers. I have always been a fan of new technology. But don’t you worry, this gift guide won’t be all electronics. I enjoy other things too.
